Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Merzouga Desert : Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your Fez hotel or Riad around 8:00 AM, setting off south toward the Sahara Desert. Leaving the city behind, you will drive through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, making your first stop in Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and pristine parks. Continuing through the ancient cedar forests of Azrou, you will have a chance to spot wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.After a lunch stop in Midelt, the route winds through the dramatic landscapes of the Ziz Gorge and past the sprawling, palm-fringed Ziz Valley. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at the golden dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi). Here, you will mount your camel for an enchanting 1.5-hour trek across the rolling sands just as the sun sets over the Sahara. Arriving at your desert camp, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea, followed by a classic Moroccan dinner under the stars and a lively campfire evening filled with traditional Berber drum music.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley : Wake up early to catch the breathtaking Saharan sunrise over the dunes before enjoying a fresh breakfast at the camp. After trekking back on camels (or via 4×4), you will begin the journey toward the Dades Valley. Your first stop is in Erfoud, famous for its dates and ancient fossils, where you can visit a local artisan workshop to see how fossilized stone is crafted.Continuing westward, you will pass through traditional irrigation canals and arrive at the impressive Todra Gorges, where 300-meter-high limestone cliffs form a dramatic narrow canyon—perfect for a leisurely walk along the river. In the afternoon, the drive leads through the scenic Dades Valley, known for its striking rock formations and historic kasbahs. Upon arrival, you will check into a charming local guesthouse, where you will enjoy warm Berber hospitality and a delicious homemade dinner.
Day 3: Dades Valley – Kelaa M’Gouna – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech : Following breakfast, you will travel along the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs” through Kelaa M’Gouna, the heart of the Rose Valley, where you can pause to admire the local rose-water products and scenic views. Moving onward to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert,” you will visit the iconic Taourirt Kasbah and have the option to tour Atlas Film Studios, famous for hosting legendary film sets like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones.From Ouarzazate, you will cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass, taking in panoramic views of sweeping valleys and traditional mud-brick Berber villages along the slopes. You will arrive back in Marrakech by late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel or Riad, marking the end of your unforgettable adventure.
